The first move is a piercing glare from it's head that will bring you down to 1 health point no matter where you are or what you do. Along with it's many slashing and writhing tentacle attacks, it also boasts two impressive moves that can be extremely deadly when paired together. The Moon Presence isn't as tough as Gherman, nor does it boast the same amount of health - but it does have several tricks that make it a worthy opponent.

It is possible at this point to beat Gehrman, and die to the Moon Presence, and then keep exploring other areas in the game while still having the Old Hunter Badge in your possession, without having to go to New Game Plus to buy the Burial Blade. With Gehrman gone, it wil seek a new caretaker to watch over the Hunter's Dream, and you will be unable to resist as it draws you in, and cripples you, sealing your fate. Once you manage to defeat Gehrman, a new hidden Great One will emerge - The Moon Presence. He will also turn to the moon and gather power, unleashing it in a large blast around him that can kill you if you do not flee. Gehrman will also try and rake you in with the scythe and then preform a massive uppercut, and many of his attacks can kill you quickly if you do not dodge out of the way.Īt half health, Gehrman will gain new powers, and is able to teleport instead of dodging, allowing him to get in close at a moment's notice - or quickly dodge back across the field. He uses several fast moving and far reaching slash attacks, though many of them have long windups that can be staggered with a firearm parry, or with heavy damage like the second swing of the Hunter Axe's charged swing. Gehrman, The First Hunter, is no pushover, and uses his Burial Blade in both forms, along with his Hunter Blunderbuss.
